Worked carefully and showed working on paper without being asked, which is a good sign. Multiplication and division facts are solid, and that is the most important base for what comes next.
The main gaps are in decimals: reading tenths, comparing decimals, and fractions as decimals. A lot of Year 5 and 6 number work builds on exactly this, so it is where I would start. Division with remainders is the other one to secure. Probability is mostly unfamiliar vocabulary rather than a real gap, and it will come quickly.
Measurement is a strength, half a year ahead of year level. Space and statistics are where you would expect for the start of Year 5.
First term focus: decimal place value and comparing decimals, then division with remainders, then simple unknowns in number sentences. Suggested group: Years 5–6, Wednesday.
Levels come from an adaptive question ladder built on the Victorian Curriculum (Mathematics 2.0), published by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and cross-checked against the Australian Curriculum v9. Vellin is independent and not endorsed by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Each area was tested independently; "secure" lists skills answered correctly, "to work on" lists the first skills missed at each level.
The assessment is free, takes about 30 minutes online, and you see the level straight away. Enter your details at the end and Gabriel emails you the written report and talks you through it. Nothing to pay.
If you then decide to go ahead, join for the term, with the money-back guarantee: the skills we agree, mastered by the end of term, and a written progress report after four weeks. One 90-minute class a week in Highett, maximum 8 students.
